Buttercream frosting recipe

• Half a cup of softened unsalted butter
• One and a half teaspoons of vanilla extract
• Two cups of sifted powdered sugar
• Two teaspoons of milk
• Three drops of food coloring, or more as needed (optional)

Step 1. Using a wooden spoon, the paddle attachment of a stand mixer, or a hand mixer, beat the room-temperature butter until smooth and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar until fully incorporated, then add the vanilla extract and continue beating.

Step 2. Add the milk and beat for another three to four minutes. If you want to color the frosting, add the food coloring and beat for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is uniform or reaches the desired color.
